Bryant University Building Collapses; Construction Workers Transported to Hospital

Construction workers at Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island were caught by surprise when the athletic facility they were in the process of completing collapsed. Several workers were pulled from the wreckage. After their rescue, workers were loaded into ambulances and transported to Rhode Island Hospital. Police officers secured the scene as representatives from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) arrived to investigate. OSHA has yet to conduct a full investigation to determine if negligent construction is to blame for the accident and workers’ injuries. There is no timetable for the completion of the investigation.
