Dextroamphetamine Lawsuits and Dextroamphetamine Liability in Massachusetts

What is Dextroamphetamine?

Dextroamphetamine is the generic name of a drug also known as Dexedrine. Used primarily to treat Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Dextroamphetamine was approved for use by the Federal Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on July 9, 1997.

In 2006 the FDA decided to do more studies about the potential dangers associated with the drug. After numerous reports of adverse reactions, two separate FDA sponsored groups issued their findings. The first group recommended a black box warning for all ADHD and ADD medications. These warnings are the strongest given out by the FDA, and related to potential serious and life-threatening side effects such as heart attacks, hallucinations, mania and death. The second set of outside experts gave their opinion in March of 2006. The concurred that the FDA needed stronger warning labels letting consumers know of the great potential risk.
