Ms. Khan is a former Assistant District Attorney for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, where she prosecuted a wide range of cases, including a successful verdict in a first-degree murder trial. She also practiced as a defense attorney in products liability and premises liability cases, experience that she believes will serve her well in her new role representing plaintiffs in similar cases.
“As a former defense attorney, I see things from the other side,” Ms. Khan said.
Ms. Khan obtained her J.D. at American University’s Washington College of Law and her B.A. at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude. She is admitted to the bar in Massachusetts, California and the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of California.
Like the other attorneys at Sheff Law, Khan will be part of teams assigned to wide range of cases, including products liability, wrongful death, brain injury, fires and explosions. Personal injury cases at Sheff are always handled by a team of attorneys, rather than a single attorney, which allows each individual’s expertise to be leveraged for the benefit of the firm’s clients.
Ms. Khan is looking forward to the team approach, and to contributing to Sheff Law’s ongoing efforts to support people who have been harmed in accidents. “I get great satisfaction from giving people some solace in a difficult time, “ Ms. Khan said. “It’s about making someone’s life a little bit better. That motivates me to work later and try harder.”
