Zoloft Birth Defects Liability


The New England Journal of Medicine recently published a study which linked antidepressant use during the first trimester of pregnancy to birth defects. Since antidepressants are prescribed more than any other drug in America this is a huge cause for concern. The study specifically advised that Zoloft, Paxil, Prozac and Celexa should be avoided when pregnant.

All of these drugs are known as “SSRIs” or Selective Serotonin-Reuptake Inhibitors. SSRI’s have been linked to heart defects, omphalocele, congenital problems, and intestinal defects.


Women who took Zoloft while pregnant and delivered children with birth defects need to talk immediately to a lawyer.
