Appointments of Chief Justice Ordoñez and Associate Justice Maldonado
On Wednesday September 25th, the Massachusetts Bar Association (MBA) and the Massachusetts Association of Hispanic Attorneys (MAHA) came together to honor the appointments of Chief Justice Ordoñez and Associate Justice Maldonado. The Honorable Angela M. Ordoñez was recently appointed as chief justice of the Probate and Family Court and the Honorable Diana L. Maldonado was appointed as associate justice of Massachusetts Appeals Court. The reception recognized the magnitude of both appointments for the state of Massachusetts. Per her appointment, Chief Justice Ordonez became the first Hispanic chief justice in Massachusetts. Similarly, the Associate Justice Maldonado became the first Hispanic Judge to be appointed to the Massachusetts Appeals Court. MBA President Douglas K. Sheff welcomed all of the attendees to the reception, expressing how proud both the MBA and MAHA were to honor both “role models and icons in the Hispanic legal community.” He also recognized the MBA’s continuing support for the Latino community and expressed that his “only hope is that our [MBA] work has, and will continue to, make you proud of us as well.”
